We surrendered our timeshare in 2011 which was already paid off years ago. Now Villa Del Palmar keeps sending us past due notices saying we owe them maintenance fees for 2012 when they owned our timeshare in 2012.

I e-mailed the company to let them know. We have told them on the phone repeatedly and they keep doing it. I also have the contract showing we gave up ownership in 2011.

As far as I am concerned this is totally dishonest, disturbing and wrong. After reading all the other things on this website I am convinced they are shady!

What specifically do you mean when you state you surrendered your timeshare? Did VDP agree to accept your timeshare?

I think you should contact a timeshare resale company, pay them a fee, and they find a buyer.

The buyer may not pay enough for your timeshare to cover the resale company's fees, plus your recovery of fees paid to the resale company. However, it would release you of ownership responsibilities (including maintenance fees).

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

I hope you can solve your problem, good luck!
